It’s a…. and 2nd Trimester Updates

The big reveal is finally here!! We’re having a BOY!!!

Can you believe it??! I’m going to be TOTALLY outnumbered #threeboys 😉 We are absolutely thrilled with the news and are ecstatic to share that Baby Ingraham is healthy and growing beautifully.

Nate and I had our 20 week ultrasound over the weekend and it was totally surreal watching the sonogram. First of all – how lucky are we to have this kind of technology today?!? We were able to see literally every part of his little body, and they could measure everything – his brain, his heart, his abdomen – to make sure it was all growing properly. It was insane!

I’m going to be honest, our little pumpkin looked more like an extra-terrestrial on the sonogram than a human at this point, but it was amazing how much of him is developing just 20 weeks in. We are so entirely grateful for such a healthy pregnancy so far and are already counting down the days until we get to meet this little dude!

Now let’s talk second trimester updates….

How am I feeling?

So far, my second trimester has been overall wonderful. I kind of love being pregnant! And I certainly FEEL pregnant now. I can definitely notice a lot of the changes happening in my body – lots of stretching and growing – but honestly, I’ve felt pretty great on the day to day.

I’ve had a definite burst of energy from my first trimester, which I can’t even tell you how much I missed. I am generally a pretty active person who thrives on being busy, but I just felt SO exhausted those first 13 weeks or so. It’s been so great to be my normal self again, back in my usual workout routines, and feeling all around good!

Am I showing yet?

I totally popped around 17 weeks! It’s still teeny little bump, but it’s noticeably growing week by week. It’s definitely getting harder and harder to fit into my normal clothes, so I’m essentially living in big sweaters, leggings, and flowy dresses. No complaints here 🙂

How am I sleeping?

One not-so-positive thing that has come with my 2nd trimester is sleep. Or should I say, lack there of. I’ve been waking up a lot throughout the night or super early in the morning, and it’s been really hard getting back to sleep. Some nights I’m totally fine, other nights… not so much. Maybe my body is getting me ready for future sleepless nights when Baby Ingraham arrives? Who knows!

But again, all in all, not too many complaints. We’re just so glad that our little pumpkin is healthy and growing!

Am I craving anything?

Honestly, not really. I’m still loving ALL the carbs, and my appetite has certainly grown, but for the most part, I’m eating like I normally do. Except wine (RIP).

Are you having a baby shower?

We’re in the midst of planning our baby shower in April! I’m teaming up with my mom and mother-in-law to host it together, and it’s been SO fun starting to think about all the adorable details.

We’re still in the early stages of planning, but we’re definitely having a co-ed shower with lots of yummy food, cocktails, and mocktails for the mamas. We rented a big Airbnb house for the party (since I live in a teeny townhouse) and the three of us are planning to cater it ourselves! I absolutely LOVE planning parties (and I’ve thrown quite a few baby showers and gender reveals for friends over the years) so I am totally in my element right now 🙂

Babymoon?

YES! Nate and I are taking a long weekend trip to Charleston at the end of March to celebrate one last hoorah together before baby. We know our lives are going to change drastically when our little pumpkin makes his entrance, so we’re really cherishing our time as a family of 2- since there’s really only four more months of that left! CRAZY!

We’ve been to Charleston once before on our way to Florida and we absolutely fell in love with the city during our short stay. We’re so excited to go back and can’t wait for all the amazing FOOD! As always, if you have any recommendations, please send them our way! Obviously, since I can’t drink, the food and sight-seeing will be the stars of the trip.

In other news, I’m also really trying to take advantage of these next few months pre-baby to do a little traveling (while I still can). I’ve got a few upcoming weekend trips planned over the next few months to spend some quality time with family and friends in Durham, Boston, and New Orleans! I’ll be sure to share some more details  on my Insta account!

Things I’m loving lately…

this Belli Elasticity Belly Oil  . I’ve heard so many different mixed reviews on stretch creams and oils (do they work? are they a total myth?) I decided to give this one a try because it got great reviews and has wonderful natural ingredients. Does it actually work? Who knows. But I’ve been really enjoying it so far (it feels and smells great) and I’ll keep you posted on the results in a few months!

this Pregnancy Pillow . This has been super helpful at night when it comes to sleeping on my left side (recommended once you hit 20 weeks). I am NOT a side sleeper at all, but this baby keeps me in place and allows for more comfort as baby and I continue to grow 🙂

Prenatal Yoga! Now that I have my normal energy back in the evenings, I’ve been going to prenatal (and regular) yoga 3-4 days a week at my local studio and I absolutely LOVE it. Not only is it a super relaxing way to end my day, but it also feels fantastic stretching out all those growing areas that can easily cramp and tighten.

this Belly Band. Have you heard of these? Basically, you put it on over your normal pants so you don’t have to button them as your belly grows and it is GENIUS. I’ve actually been wearing my belly band since about 10 weeks, mostly because of bloating, and it’s totally saved me from having to buy too many maternity pants so far.

these Pregnancy Essential Oils . I’ve been a huge Sage Wellness fan for quite a while now, and was so excited to find that they had a pregnancy-safe essential oil roll on blend. It is fantastic! It smells wonderful and is just SO soothing. I like to use mine before bed, yoga, or just when I need a calming moment.

Maternity Clothes! I started wearing maternity clothes around 17(ish) weeks in and YOU GUYS. Maternity clothes are fabulous. They’re stretchy and flowy and comfy and I never want to give them up! Right now, I’m really loving this sweater (I already bought 2 of them), these pants, and these leggings for work.

  1. Awww congrats Liz!!!!!! Those 20 week ultrasounds are the best! I really believe sleepless pregnant nights just prepare you for what’s to come when your baby is born! You kind of get used to it, you know?! Enjoy every minute (which it sounds like you already are)!

    • I totally agree! Just kind of comes with the territory! Thanks so much Laura <3

  2. Congrats! How exciting. I loved reading this. I was about 2months pregnant this time last year. The belly band is so great, used it all the way to the end of my pregnancy. By then it really helped support and decrease lower back pain. I also didn’t have any weird cravings except for cheeseburgers often. I’m glad you’ll be traveling. 🙂

    • The belly band is the BEST! Definitely one of the best purchases I’ve made. I’m glad to hear it helps through the whole pregnancy!

  3. Yay, you’re having a boy!! That’s so exciting. Congratulations!!

I’m happy to hear you are feeling well and enjoying your pregnancy so far. I hope the lack of sleep thing works itself out soon so you can rest up before your little man gets here. 🙂

    • Thanks SO much Sarah! We are beyond excited 🙂 I’ve been the queen of naps lately, which has been wonderful to catch up on sleep, but I do hope sleeping through the night works itself out soon. My mom said the SAME thing happened to her!
