2017, you’ve been a YEAR.

Looking back, it is just CRAZY to think how much has happened and changed on this little blog, in my personal life, and (mostly) in our world in just 365 days. A year ago, Nate and I were still living in Durham, North Carolina, with five more months of my husband’s law school ahead of us. Since then…

Like I said, it’s been a YEAR. And with that last piece of news, I can tell you already, 2018 is going to be a year for the books 🙂



All that being said, it’s not only been a year of HUGE change, but also been a year of growth for both our family and this blog. I’ve had to step out of my comfort zone more times than normal since moving to a new city and starting another new job. It’s been really tough (and sometimes lonely) at times, but I’ve moved enough times to know that I need to give myself some time to adjust and settle in this new life. And it may feel uncomfortable at times, but that’s OK. I’ve come to terms that it’s all part of the growing process.

It’s also shown me how important my support network of family and friends is. Keeping my relationships strong, even if we may be hundreds of miles apart, has been my life-blood during big moves like this one.



I’ve been so incredibly inspired by our travels around the world, experiencing new cultures, foods, and ways of life. And it’s made me want to travel EVEN MORE, but also shown me how much I love coming home after time away exploring.

I’ve taken more risks in my kitchen and felt more confident than ever experimenting with new dishes and flavors. I’ve taken on new (and sometimes intimidating) projects, like learning how to bake my own sourdough, and fell in love with the process of baking from scratch.

Sometimes (slash a lot of times) I utterly fail, but every failed attempt teaches me something new and usually leads to something even better. Best of all, I’ve connected with even more amazing like-minded readers out there who have a similar passion for healthy, delicious food and a balanced lifestyle. You guys are seriously the BEST!



But the biggest area of growth is certainly to come: motherhood! I’ve begun to fully process our huge family change coming in June, and I can’t even tell you how excited I am to welcome our new baby into our lives. But I’m also savoring these last six months of just Nate and I (and Augie), enjoying our quiet moments together and alone time even more than before.

Whew, thanks for bearing with all that! It feels so therapeutic just writing these thoughts out and reflecting on all these crazy, yet amazing life changes.

But let’s move onto the reason you probably came here today…. the food, of course!

I have to say, this year was one of my favorite years in my kitchen. I felt so inspired this year— between all of our travels to Europe and across the US, paired with my growing confidence with new flavors and ingredients— it was just a great year all around in the Ingraham kitchen!
