April Happenings

Whew, has another month has come and gone already??

Strangely enough, this time of the year I am TOTALLY ok with that. Between gearing up for end-of-year testing season at school, spring fever (from both the teachers AND the students), and summer plans taunting me, I am welcoming May with open arms.

But before we start talking about summer, let’s recap a little of April, shall we?

April started out with a bang with my husband’s very last law school formal. You guys, I seriously cannot believe this is the beginning of the end!

We moved to North Carolina almost three years ago for the beginning of Nate’s law school program and it’s insane how quickly the time has flown by. Don’t get me wrong, it was certainly an adjustment moving down here from the big city in DC, but we have absolutely fallen in love with Durham and it’s going to be so incredibly hard leaving all our amazing friends in August. So bittersweet!

Anyways, we had a blast dressing up and spending the evening with all our wonderful friends. Next celebration— graduation in just a few weeks!

Ohh, and on April 8th, Nate and I celebrated our 6-month anniversary! It feels like just yesterday we tied the knot at our crazy, beautiful hurricane wedding back in October!

Beside that, the highlight of this month was definitely my trip to Philadelphia to visit my sisters back a few weeks ago. I flew in for a four day weekend to help with a little wedding planning for my sister’s upcoming big day (eee!!!) and some quality sister bonding time. It’s been such a long time since my two sisters and I have all lived remotely near one another, so we always carve out a few weekends a year to meet up or travel together. And it is just the BEST!

We spent most of our time exploring Philly and eating our way through the city, but we also spent a good chunk of time planning my sister’s upcoming bachelorette weekend in Montreal. Have you been to Montreal before?!? We’re heading there together at the end of June with a few friends for a little exploring, a little hiking, and a lot of celebrating!

If you have any recommendations for good eats, things to do, or hikes around the area, we would LOVE to hear them in the comments below. Please and thank you!

Speaking of this summer, I can already tell you this is seriously the most jam-packed-crazy-busy summer I will probably ever experience— but in the BEST way.

I told you guys a little while ago that we’re officially moving this August back to Washington DC for my husband’s job, but right before that happens we’re going on our honeymoon to Europe! We’re spending two weeks exploring London, Paris, Cannes, and Nice and I couldn’t be more ECSTATIC. Of course I’ve been researching for, like, months on the best places to visit, things to do, and restaurants, but I’m always looking for recommendations if you guys have ever been. We’ll be in each city/area for about 4 days, so please send me all your favorites!

So between house hunting, Montreal, the big move, and our honeymoon, ohhh and a few weddings, bridal showers, and my husband’s bar exam all thrown into the mix too, it’s going to be an INSANE summer. But like I said, in the best way. I seriously can’t wait!

So those are about all the updates I have on my end. I’d love to hear about any exciting things you have going on! Oh, and happy Friday friends 🙂

Hi, I’m Liz and this is my food blog where I share my love of healthy foods and whole ingredients. You will find mostly vegetarian dishes, plenty of sweets, and lots of love from this little kitchen in Durham, North Carolina!
