Oh it IS a happy Friday!! It’s our last day of school today which means summer vaca is finally here!! As much as I adore the group of kiddos I worked with this year, I’m totally ready for a break to rejuvenate and refresh before the new school year begins in just 2 short months. If you work with children (or have children of your own), you totally catch my drift 😉
And I’m already starting my summer break off with a bang! My sister and mom are coming in town to work on some wedding projects (invitations, decor, etc) and to go see Joshua Radin’s acoustic tour in downtown Durham!! Anyone else a fan? I totally adore him and love seeing him live any chance I get. If not, you MUST check him out. He’s such a hidden gem.
After our busy weekend of wedding planning, I’m heading to DC on Monday for the summer! Like I said, starting this break off RIGHT.
Hope y’all have an incredible weekend! I’m off to say goodbye to some amazing kiddos and get this summer STARTED! As always, here are some favorites from the week:
.
…4 things i made this week…
- my favorite roasted tomato basil pesto. i seriously can’t get enough of pesto these days
- these cheerio trail mix bars. these are, honestly, my new favorite after school snack! PS did you enter the $15 PayPal cash giveaway yet?!?

…4 things i’m loving this week…
- watermelon season is finally here! i already bought a big juicy watermelon so you KNOW i’ll be making these coconut watermelon slushies this weekend!
- shopping for puppy stuff!! amazon and i have been best friends this week and i’ve been going wild with crates, dog beds, leashes, you name it! any things we MUST get for our puppy that you’d recommend?
- i just finished me before you on audible and totally LOVED it! any recommendations for what i should start next? i have a few more longish car trips coming up and listening to a book has been my godsend during them!
- i can’t believe i’m saying this but… rose wine! i’ve found some awesome dry roses that i’ve been hooked on lately and they’re super refreshing on those hot summer nights. i’m typically a red girl, so this is totally out of my comfort zone, but i’m LOVING it!
.
…4 recipes i’m dying to try…
- how cute are these bbq chickpea sloppy joes?? yes, i used the word cute— just got check out the picture!
- these portobello steaks with avocado chimichurri. everything about these sounds just perfect.
- this strawberry pistachio crumble. i would have never thought of this, but it’s genius!
- while we’re already on strawberries, this vegan strawberry coconut cream pie is simply stunning!
.

EVERYTHING you said about loving rose wine is totally me – it’s my new obsession this summer (especially the dry ones, too!) yet is out of my comfort zone as I’m totally a red girl too. So fun to be surprised by things you never thought you’d go for! Loved that snap last night with your view + wine! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Right?!? Who knew those dry roses were SO good?!? I’m hooked!
Oh my god that strawberry cream pie looks incredible. And have a fantastic summer Liz!! Yay for vacation!!!
Doesn’t it?!? I can’t wait to try it! You too Erica 🙂
Hooray for summer! It sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead with your Mom and sister!
As for puppy must haves? Toys to chew on! Because otherwise they will chew everything you don’t want them to chew, haha!
I will definitely invest in lots of toys then!! Have a great weekend Kristy 🙂
