I’ve been SO pumped to share this with you since that sneak peek on my edition of Friday Favorites last week. Honestly, anything involving the words “blizzard” is an absolute winner in my book. And I hope it is in yours too— because that’s what we’re obsessing over today!
Last February, I made a similar rendition of this recipe using my Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls— thus turning them into an Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookie Dough “Blizzard”. Yeah, it was pretty fantastic. Creamy peanut butter nana ice cream studded with bits of “cookie dough” and topped with a few decadent (yet healthy-ish) cookie dough balls. Ohhhmmyyyygoshhhh. And it was such a hit with you guys that I knew I had to make round 2 sometime this year.
Enter: Halloween Chocolate PB Granola Bites.
If you saw my Halloween Chocolate PB Granola Bites last Wednesday, well then you’re essentially prepped on half of the recipe here in front of you. Those Granola Bites are delicious by themselves, but when you’re ready to spice up your life and take your dessert to a new level—- that’s when THIS comes into play!
Here’s how it goes. You basically throw some frozen bananas, milk, vanilla, and PB2 (or peanut butter) into your blender until it’s creamy like a thick milkshake. Then you pop in a few of those granola bites and let them mix in juuuustttt a bit—- you still want them a little chunky. Finally, you pour the concoction into a big glass and top it with another granola bite and some festive sprinkles. Viola! Homemade (again, healthy-ish) blizzard in 5 minutes!
Whenever I make these babies at my house, they’re polished off within minutes of them being poured into a glass. There is just something about that creamy, nutty, chocolatey flavor that really satisfies our sweet tooth— but in a not-so-unhealthy way.
These would definitely make a great after-school treat for your kiddos as well. If I was a child, I would think you were the best mom (or dad) ever if this was sitting on the table when I got off the bus. And it’s such a win-win, because it’s a decently healthy snack for kids as well. I mean think about it, it’s basically just bananas, peanut butter, oats, and some chocolate right? And who are we kidding, chocolate is healthy now. I’m totally ALL on that bandwagon. Oh, and did I mention they’re naturally dairy free AND gluten free?
Or you could not have kids, like me, and just make it for yourself! I’m a child at heart right?!?
Enjoy everyone and have a wonderful Wednesday 🙂
