Vegetarian Travel: NYC Eats {Part 2}

This is Part 2 of my Vegetarian Travel: NYC series from my recent trip to New York. Check out Part 1 for all the pretty sights I saw during my 4 days in the big city 🙂

We all know that New York is infamous for its amazing eats, especially for vegans and vegetarians. My last trip to New York, I went with my wonderful vegetarian fiancé, so we enjoyed many of those popular vegan restaurants like Candle 79, Candle Cafe, and Blossom Du Jour that we had been dying to go to. This time, I went with my aunt (who is not a vegetarian), so I chose some restaurants that were friendly for both of our eating styles. Man, did we find some gems! Here are some of my favorites (and a few little tidbits, of course):

Vegetarian Travel: NYC Eats // pumpkin & peanut butter

Erin McKenna’s Bake Shop {aka Babycakes}

— let’s start with the sweet stuff, shall we?

—- gluten free, soy free, dairy free, wheat free, refined sugar free, need I say more?

—– she now has locations in Orlando, Florida and LA too 🙂

——- I got a Mocha Brownie Cupcake, a Carrot Cupcake, and a Cran-Apple Tea Cake. All were delish!

Beyond Sushi aka The Green Roll

— 100% vegan sushi made from locally grown, fresh ingredients

—- 3 locations in Manhattan (I went to the one in Chelsea Market)

—– I ordered the Nutty Buddy Wrap and the Sweet Tree Roll. Ohhhmyyygoooddd amazing!

Egg Shop NYC

— It’s just like it sounds… a restaurant dedicated to all things egg!

— It’s actually only a few blocks from Erin McKenna’s Bake Shop (wink, wink)

—- I ordered “The Spandex”: Miso Quinoa, Poached Egg, Avocado, Pickled Carrots, Farm Greens

—– This was one of my FAVORITE things I ate all trip! Please go to this place!

Bar Cyrk {Tribeca}

— Bar Cyrk is a bar / restaurant hidden down an alley in Tribeca, but man, is this place a gem!

—- It’s great for cocktails and pizza— though they don’t have vegan options for pizza (only for salads)

—— We ordered their artichoke garlic pizza to share and I got a small asian napa cabbage salad (yes, that picture is a SALAD) on the side! My kind of bar food!

Other Places I Ate {but was too hungry to photograph first}

Mulberry & Vine: A great lunch place filled with healthy salads, veggie dishes, and lots of delicious looking soups. It kind of reminded me of a more upscale Whole Foods Prepared Food Bar! They had both vegetarian and meat options, but everything was nutritious, fresh, and tasty.

M.O.B. {Brooklyn}: An entirely plant-based restaurant in Brooklyn (uhh, and Paris?!) serving sensational pizzas, veggie burgers, and salads. I tried their Pizza MOB, a house made flatbread with herbed cashew cheese, roasted tomatoes, spinach, pesto, and walnut parmesan. Mightttt be one of the best vegan pizzas I’ve ever had!

Hi, I’m Liz and this is my food blog where I share my love of healthy foods and whole ingredients. You will find mostly vegetarian dishes, plenty of sweets, and lots of love from this little kitchen in Durham, North Carolina!
